ADVANCED SECURITY TECHNOLOGY IN NETWORKING

The ASTN/2003 Workshop is intended to transfer the knowledge about security services provision, raise awareness, and promote the use of security technology for the purpose of securing the growing use of the Internet for administration, e-commerce, intra-organisation communication, health care applications, and research.

The workshop is bringing together experts and key speakers who will help the attendees of the workshop to understand the importance of security technology and learn how to use it through lectures, technical demonstrations, and training sessions. Important aspects of security in networking will be brought to light, for example:

- Basic knowledge about security mechanisms and services,
- Security standards (Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, CEN/ISSS, ETSI,
   ISO 17779, TEMPEST),
- Secure administration of the network,
- Security technology based products and services for secure
   communication,
- Security technology in e-government and e-business applications,
- Secure infrastructure (critical, wireless,...),
- Privacy aspects and privacy enhancing technologies,
- Data protection and legislation.

The emphasis will be on technical demonstrations and training. Several
demonstrations will give an insight into how various components of
security technology work and exchange protected data and information.
Participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to obtain
in-depth information about the state-of-the-art security technology and
how to solve practical problems.
