TRUSTED ARCHIVAL SERVICE SOLUTION

Dematerialization of business and governmental processes is based on records created and handled in electronic form. Once a document lifecycle ends, electronic record enters an electronic archive. Trusted archival service presents a combination of procedures and mechanisms, which preserves authenticity of electronic records and associated electronic signatures on a long term basis. More information on trusted archival service is available in eKeeper White Paper

eKeeper

Durability of records in electronic form is undermined by continual technology progress and change. The useful lifetime of data may exceed the life span of formats, mechanisms used to store the data and algorithms used to sign a document. A combination of technical solutions must overcome issues such as storage media lifetime, disaster planning, advances in cryptanalysis or computational capabilities, changes in software technology and legal issues when handling with formal types of documents. Trusted electronic archives deliver powerful mechanisms to assure authenticity of archived records and to extend the validity of applied electronic signatures over any period of time.

eKeeper solution presents unique approach when handling with records in electronic form of any format. Validation techniques, evidence creation mechanisms and cryptoalgorithms lays foundation for preserving authenticity of a record and extend the limited time validity of a digital signature. eKeeper solution enhances functionality of information systems where authenticity of formal data preservation is essential for business or governmental processes.

Electronic Archiving Technology

eKeeper solution is based on client-server architecture. eKeeper Client is an application interface, which enhances information system (e.g. Document Management System) with archiving functionality and it interacts with eKeeper Server. eKeeper solution delivers the following functions:

Electronic records and signatures validation
Archival meta data generation
Formal archival time evidence creation

Records submitted for archiving are handled using cryptographic methods. Generated preservation attributes are combined with evidence mechanisms, assuring authenticity of electronic records and validity of electronic signatures. When archival attributes are generated, eKeeper solution provides two basic approaches

Preservation of archival attributes only
Preservation of electronic records and archival attributes

Preservation of archival attributes separately provides user confidentiality and reduces redundancy of data (records are kept by information system). Preservation of electronic records and archival attributes is an all-round approach, providing full archival and preservation user service. More information is available in eKeeper White Paper and eKeeper User Guide.

Demonstration service

eKeeper service is available for demonstration purposes. For interaction with archive eKeeper Client is required. Enhanced Graphical User Interface demonstrates functionality of trusted archival service. To run the service, Java™ Runtime Environment from Sun Microsystems is needed.
